Rules of buisness conduct

Welcome to Your new position!

Your search for a (better) job was successful. You got the job you like at the company you had always wanted to work for. May a series of your successful moves continue!

The first impression is important!

During the first days in the new environment it is extremely important what impression you will leave. The first impression might have a lasting effect, and with a little bit of effort and planning you might make it positive!

Before you start, collect as many company information as possible

Before the first interview you tried to find out as much as you could, during the interview you obtained many new details and before you start to work try to 'organize' the collected information. You might not be able to find out much about the organizational culture and everyday tacit rules of conduct, but the details about the company structure, profits accrued, the mission and business plans might be indicative of the environment you will be faced with.

Pay special attention to new colleagues

These are the persons who will help you most to adapt to your new role. They will teach you accurate procedures, warn you about most frequent mistakes and instruct you about the persons you may (or need to) address before making certain decisions. Good rapport with your colleagues will make the time you spent at work more pleasant!

Ask your superior for feedback about your work

Propose to your superior to hold a short (truly short!) meeting to express your opinion about the given assignments and clarify potential ambiguities. The initial enthusiasm and your desire to justify for the trust you gained will probably be a good motivation for you to do your best. Clear instructions from your superior will prevent unnecessary energy dissipation and give you clear feedback about your good or bad performance. The employer will appreciate your proactive attitude and responsible approach to the new job!

Show your accuracy, responsibility and professionalism

Carefully plan your first work assignments, set deadlines and do not allow it to yourself to miss them! Your superior understands your adaptation to the new environment and he/she expects quality and effort from you, and not speed. Control the course of the recommended action plan and notify your superior about possible delays in time!
